“When you’re a kid, you color with reckless abandon. You color outside the lines. You color however you feel. Blue elephants, purple trees, red bears, green oceans — it’s all good.
As you get older, though, everyone tells you to stay inside the lines, to color everything just how you see it. You end up painting by numbers — whether you actually paint or whether you write or sing or dance or direct.
I think you should create what you feel. Create outside the lines. I want to watch green oceans and red bears. I’d love to listen to purple trees. And I long to read blue elephants.”
Soar into majesty,
There is a quote by Vincent Van Gogh that reads, “There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” Is this because love is an art to be mastered? Have you studied the intricacies of what it truly means to love another? Have you explored your parameters of self love? What qualifies as art?
Maybe art is born when you treat someone with kindness. Suppose art dwells in the space between two smiles. Perhaps art breathes in the rhythm of a beating heart.
Art is how you interact with others, when you are able to make someone feel something deep within. It’s the way you radiate with the love you have for yourself. It is the foundation for all that is sensational.
An oil painting is only art when the strokes reflect the passion of one’s soul. Fashion is only art when the design showcases a vision of beauty. Poetry is only art when the words ripple into the depths of the reader.
If you want to create art, then fully live each moment as your truest self. Act out of love when engaging company. Show up and show out at every opportunity that winks at you.
This is how you become a walking masterpiece.
PS. Speaking of art, I think it’s fitting to spotlight a couple qualities of mine…
For starters, my book, “Fashion Speaks,” is one of the visionary ways I teach how to use clothing as a medium of self-expression. You may get your copy by clicking the picture below.
And secondly, visit my Instagram (@justreigning) to peek into my world.
Two people who love themselves immensely are capable of loving the other intensely. But the only way you are capable of love is by being in a relationship with your own majesty.
Look at yourself in the mirror and admire the curving lines of your anatomy. Focus on the steady rise and fall of your chest as you softly breathe in perfection and release it into your atmosphere. Gaze into your eyes and silently whisper, “I love you.” See more than just a physical reflection—see growth, love, and magic. See your body as an integration of these qualities.
Appreciate yourself. Embrace who you truly are.
Right now, I am working on a project that is incredibly close to my heart. I loved fashion when I first got involved with it ten years ago (For more on my story click here). Somewhere down the line, however, I lost myself, and thus lost my love for fashion as well. But my experiences make for a pretty beautiful story. And by me maturing into a grander version of myself, I have accepted and reconnected to what is natural to me. For the first time, I am allowing myself to do what makes my heart flutter and to fully live in my truth.
I don’t know where I am going with this acknowledgment, but somehow I know that this project of mine is the start of something amazing. I like not knowing the particulars. I like letting this mystery unfold without my mind’s speculation. I like just enjoying the process.
I feel really happy. Peaceful. Tickled by life and the feeling of imminent prospects.
I realize that truly loving yourself means loving every single atom of your makeup. It means having every avenue of your life reflect the love you have for yourself: what you do, where you go, and who you are with.
To do things that make you spark up with liveliness is something worth diving into. Being true to you is everything. It’s these small, pure, and simple moments that have the strongest impact.
“The little things. There is nothing bigger, isn’t it?” – Vanilla Sky
Soar into majesty,
Style is not dependent on your bank account. Fashion has nothing to do with what people wear on tv. Quality is not based on how large of an emblem you sport. Call it an unpopular opinion but, I do not care who wore what and no your red bottoms do not impress me.
You are mistaken if you associate the worth of your wardrobe with the worth of your being. Material substances are immaterial matters.
Style is creative and fun; it is not to be taken seriously. Style means knowing who you are and having the confidence to be true. Style sings when you worship the nuances of your form and when you find yourself astonished at your natural beauty.
Fashion is the manner in which you engage life. It occurs when you walk with the awareness that each step echoes throughout eternity. It is found in your voice when you speak with the power contained in all of the universes. What causes me to stop and stare is when you carry yourself as the God that you are. You have me spellbound when you treat each breath as a resurrection and greet each moment with fervent gratitude.
The only quality that is of significance is the quality of your thoughts and actions. I want to feel the sincereness of your kindness and witness the passion of your love. What you wear, what you do, and who you associate with coincides with the quality you see in yourself. Regard yourself highly, for you are a realization of magic.
I perk up when someone is dressed to the nines. I appreciate class. I admire individuality.
Your appearance speaks volumes and your demeanor never lies.
When you have style, when you are fashion, when the almighty quality of your soul is on full display, THAT is what calls forth fascination.
“It is that indefinable charm which is to woman what perfume is to the flower and flavor to the fruit; for the beauty of either is not the only quality we seek.” ~ Alexandre Dumas
